My mother said that I could never get by on my good looks.
True.
But I am hoping I can get by on the good looks of my graphic design.
I’ve always done some drawing, cartooning and design of sorts throughout my life. I wound up doing Architectural Drafting for about 15 years, and then shifted gears to The Western Producer newspaper in the Advertising Creative Department. Worked there for about 7 years creating ads, checking supplied ad material, creating magazines and other promotional materials, with the last four years being the Creative Director. It was more title than anything, but it sounds good, doesn’t it?
I left to become a stay-at-home dad, and have done that for the past twelve years, all the while trying to continue doing graphic design as a freelancer. Sometimes it was a juggle, changing diapers and getting kids to school and doing the graphic design work, but it all worked out. It was, and is, great.
My pleasure comes in finding the best solution for a problem. Finding something that makes both me and the client happy. Showing a client that good design can make a difference. And that good design is an investment, and not that expensive of an investment, either.
